Health Environment and Culture Best Practices:
The following are best practices or regulatory standards used to evaluate your school’s health environment and culture in the Healthy Champions Assessment.
- Schools have a health council that meets 1-3 times a year.
- Schools have a health council consisting of diverse members (i.e., parents, students, community representatives, school administrators, physical education teachers, cafeteria managers, school nurses).
- Schools help reinforce healthy behaviors with families through communication or participation in school health activities.
- Schools review local wellness policies every 2-3 years.
- Schools set goals and evaluate their health promotion programs.
