Healthy Champions celebrated its 10th anniversary with the 2022-2023 School year. The Healthy Champions Team embarked on a program evaluation to culminate this milestone. The program evaluation sought to understand the current health and wellness needs of schools and provide better resources and support. This evaluation consisted of interviews with Healthy Champions and reviewed current best practices and regulatory standards in school health and wellness.
Based on the findings from this evaluation the Healthy Champions Team has made updates to the program for the 2024-2025 school year. The foundation of these updates align with the Center for Disease Control’s (CDC) Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child (WSCC) Model for addressing health in schools.
Program updates for the 2024-2025 school year include:
- A revised Healthy Champions Assessment:
- New format
- New topic areas (including employee wellness)
- Real time access to Star Score Report upon completion of assessment
- Ongoing access to the assessment to re-measure school health indicators
- New Signature Events:
- 2 new signature events focusing on mental health and employee wellness
- Opportunity to apply for “mini grants” to host any of our six signature events at your school
- Updated Resource Portal:
- New platform

The Healthy Champions Team is excited to roll out these updates to continue supporting your school’s health and wellness efforts. As we start this new chapter for the Healthy Champions program, we would like to thank you for your continued commitment to bringing healthy choices to life.
